FlagSSS Day 2023 – June 10th in Troy, NY!

The theme that we worked with or departed from: June is a good time to feed what’s in the ground/ the lesser-seen, unseen, marginalized people, beings, places, and histories of our region.

The afterparty was at The Whiskey Pickle and then a performance by Troy Samba!

This year’s process was proceeded by three community builds and five commissioned FlagSSS. We were also able to project a live billboard nightly at the Arts Center leading up to FlagSSS Day.

Angus McCullough Flag made entirely out of things he dug out of the ground in the woods
William Carter created a shawl-like wearable flag this is inspired by the wings of a butterfly. He states, "If only we all develop wings as a reward for our collective journeys and metamorphoses...if only we could fl."
