It’s June and that means it is time for another FlagSSS Day – The roving party to celebrate being yourself in community.

FlagSSS Day will take place on June 14, 2024 with the theme of Plastic Jubilee! Mourn, celebrate, organize. We will meet at 5:30pm at Riverfront Park in Troy, NY. The procession is planned to kick off at 6pm.

We will be joined by members of the New York City based Funkrust Brass Band. They will travel with us around downtown Troy and provide sweet dance music for us to enjoy (hopefully!). We are currently working hard to raise funds to get them here. You can help out here.

This year’s theme is Plastic Jubilee! Plastic is everywhere, in us, around us, threatening fragile ecosystems, we currently can’t escape it.

In preparation, we will have a public plastic build at Refuge on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 3-7pm. Located at 1813 5th Ave, Troy, NY 12180

Alexis and the Beyond Plastics team is working hard to pass a bill in New York but the session ends June 6th. The bill is called the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (S4246b/A5322b) that would address single-use plastic packaging, the biggest cause of the problem.
